Human child is born as a completely dependent and helpless creature. Since birth, for a considerably long period of time, a human baby can’t even hold his/her neck straight – running, walking or even sitting is a far cry! The baby can’t even picks up his/her right food, he/she take up everything around him/her as food and puts these in mouth! Whereas, other animal’s babies, such as cow, dog, cat, bird, reptiles etc. all are born as much independent creatures. They can even run immediately after birth! Although, it is well accepted that human being is the most developed species in the world. Thus, the important question arises – then why God sent us in this unknown world in such a completely helpless and dependent condition? The answer is, the God made Education compulsory to human, not for other creature. In the holy Qur’an, the first order of God to human being is not to pray, not to fast, nor to bow down before Him – but to read (Iqra), to know, to get educated. So, until we fulfill God’s commandment by getting educated ourselves, we are to remain dependent and helpless.

That was the reason God did not give any material of sustenance to our forefather, Adam (AS) while sending him on the earth, but some knowledge (Education) only. This implies that education will bring every material of sustenance. In another case, God orders the angels, His most obedient creature, to bow down before human (Adam – AS) as a sign of respect to Education which Adam (AS) show before them. So, respect also is due to those only who have Education. In nutshell, the sustenance and honour – requirements for human living can be derived only through a tool, known as Education.
God has sent the sustenance for every living being He has created. But He has not served it in a beautiful plate on a clean dining table. Rather He has spread these materials of sustenance in the Nature. He gave Nature the potentiality to grow and supply your sustenance, but one must know the knowhow to get these. As for example, before the discovery of agriculture we were not getting all these food-grains, vegetables, fine cloths etc. But the Nature as has today, on that day also had the potentiality to grow all these, as today growing. The only thing was lacking with us, the knowhow or the knowledge and technique to do cultivation. This is the importance of Education. If one has everything but Education, this everything irrespective of their cost, quality or glitter will prove just useless.
Some village people have exceptionally high affinity towards their agricultural land. No doubt land is a means of their livelihood. But only land will not sustain them further. The quantum of agricultural land per head is rapidly decreasing due to conversion of land for non-agricultural purposes and generation to generation division of land among the siblings. The only way open to everybody is to acquire education.
As myself is born and brought up in a awfully backward environment of poverty, illiteracy, worse communication and overall educationally adverse circumstances, up to this present position of the Principal of a Govt. aided College; so, I have clear conviction that before the strong will to get Education these are no barriers at all. Education is the only ladder through which I ascended from such poor condition of my family and native area. But, the condition of my fellow native people and their children are still worse! Moreover, this is the age of commercialization of education. Govt. schools suffer, Pvt.. schools thrive. But which Pvt. player will invest huge money to open good school in such poverty ridden backward area, mine native place, north-western part of already declared (by Central Govt.) backward district, Malda? As this is my native area – the sun, soil, air and water of these hinterland have made up my body, mind and spirit – so, my conscience tells me that it is my duty to pay back to the society – to open a good school but affordable up to the economic level of this rural poor. In order to respond responsively to this call of my conscience, on 2nd January, 2016, M.J. INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL started its journey with just 43 students (23 in Nursery & 20 in K.G.) in the abandoned house of my elder brother and the President of this School at Jairampur village, P.O. – Bhatol, P.S. – Harischandrapur, Dist. – Malda, West Bengal. This year the school is shifted with its total 183 students in its own vast campus of 0.5 acre land and own new building adjacent to Jairampur village but in horizon open greenery space In order to maintain quality admission is being done only in Nursery & K.G. classes. One class upgrades every year. The school adopted another measure to ensure quality by admitting only 24 students in a section. The school maintains very good teacher to students’ ratio at 1:14. The school is running in two shifts – the Morning Shift for the Nursery & K.G. classes, and Day Shift for classes I, II, II. The school has two numbers of vehicles to ferry the students from home to school and back. The management has decided to provide residential (Hostel) facility to the students and staff on and from class V.
The aim of this school is to provide all round qualitative education by overcoming the cost and distance barrier to the rural, disadvantageous children irrespective of their religion, gender, caste, colour, creed or socio-economic status. I have extended the ladder of progress, the ladder of Education in your very doorstep and urge all not to miss this opportunity for your better tomorrow. The tomorrow is surely worse than today without Education. Let us build our society and Indian nation for the better tomorrow.

With Best Regards

Dr. Md. Afsar Ali
